Ed.ex's horizonatally split window is great for cut,
copy and paste.. and easy to switch back and forth
between windows. Its much easier to view and edit
several files at the same time and cut and paste
between ( among ? ) them than in any other editor I
have come across.

I would like to see a "full Window" hot key option so
you could view the current window or file in full
screen and maybe toggle back to the multiple file view
with a hotkey.

YES! ed.ex is truly a fine editor I agree completely.
But counting me and you, I fear the grand total of
ed.ex fans is TWO.. maybe three if you count Rob :(

and this is why...

GUI's came, we saw, they conquered - at least as far
as mot newbies are concerned. I'm not happy about this
- I recall Rob Craig mentioning something in an
anceient MUOHIO listserv posting to the effect that he
doesn't like to take his hands away from the keyboard
while editing.. I believe this was in a discussion of
the lack of mouse support in ed.ex. And I agree with
this - most often I find that using a mouse is an
utter waste of time when accessing and editor function
can or could be accomplished with one, two, or even
three osimple keystrokes without moving a hand from
the keyboard. But fondling a mouse is now a deeply
ingrained conditioned fetish for most computer users.

I believe that ed.ex does not appeal to most new users
and that it would behoove commercially RDS to ship an
enhanced version with cross platform mouse support at
the very least - though I grit my teeth as I say that.

The editor shipped with Euphoria, even if RDS
considers it a "simple demo" is likely to make the
first and most lasting impression on new users as to
the power and ease of use of the language.

This post is getting long.. I think I will post a
separate ed.ex wish list.

Very true. When I'm coding, the mouse can be quite a distraction. However,
even in the demonic realm of GUI apps, there are the keyboard shortcuts. In
NotePad, there is ALT FS to save, ALT FX to exit (and save), etc. That, by
the way, closely matches the more "angelic" DOS prog edit.

I hope I'm not coming across as though I'm saying that NotePad is the
ultimate in sweet tools. I had my issues with it as well, especially when I
was using Win95. And now, I don't use it at all, but rather a editor made
for coding. I was simply trying to relay the difficulty that most green
recruits in the Grand Euphorium would have with ed.
