It would require writing an SMTP server and a CGI web interface. Possible with Euphoria. Just need a stable machine which is 24h a day up. (You can get a free DNS name with dns2go) Regards, Martin

Serving the web pages with an active scripted server is a snap, i've been able to do that for 2 years now, building pages on the fly. I can get my isp to make my ip static, and i am online 24-7 anyhow,,, my only question is bandwidth. I can handle the email, cause that can be done sporadically and is not time sensitive,,, but even then, if there are 100 msgs per day to 1000 subscribers,, my isp might balk at 100,000 emails per day. That's 300Kbytes, and would be 20minutes per day just emailing. I am on a dialup here, can't get anything better. How many people are on the list? I did ask about a co-lo box, he wants $135/month to plug in *my* box there,, i can't do that. Kat

I have some lists hosted there now. No ads - you own your site. Of course, it would be 'better' if the listserver were written in Euphoria... but that's unlikely to happen unless we get a dedicated server, which costs a bit more: $600 per month! Or we could co-locate somewhere, but that usually costs $150 per month. Regards, Irv

The email's web interface could be reduced to regular html links, which would make me happy as a hummingbird in a flower shop, or a kat in a hummingbird shop,,, hmm, oh, i digressed,, and the web pages for the listserv can be easily updated with Eu doing the ftp too. That eliminates the need for bandwidth and instant turn-around. What about the number of ftp's per day allowed by the webpage hosting company? Kat

What about > the number of ftp's per day allowed by the webpage hosting company? That $10 rate includes 3.5 gig of transfer per month. For $26.95 per month, we could get 10 gigs transfer, 50 separate mailing lists (one for each topic? ;) and 200 e-mail accounts. We could each have our own maildrop: kat at rapideuphoria.com, irv at rapideuphoria.com..... Regards, Irv

But to afford that , at least one person has to regester per month . But if Rob`s life depends on Eu , he`ll die of hunger (personaly I have no problem with that . Just a joke !) You install a program on your computer, which sends your IP to them, and they will link the name *.d2g.com with your IP. You can select a redirection if you are offline. So, we all can host a mailing list. There are people in different time zones, so I hope any time is at least one of our computers up. If there would more then one puter up, traffic can be distributed between them. Something like Gnutella. Crazy idea ? :) Regards, Martin Stachon

It's useable, as long as you know what it is. > So, we all can host a mailing list. There are people in > different time zones, so I hope any time is at least one of > our computers up. I have 3 programs online now, working on multipath irc, redundant/backup links and all that. Kat

Ok, subdomain. It is not just a HTTP redirector, it redirects all ports to you. > > So, we all can host a mailing list. You must like the IRC much, you are still talkin about it. Don't you ? ;) > Kat Martin
