Why can't I access messages older than m15396.html? Following the "previous" link from there gets me on the "all messages" page. Entering any message reference earlier than 15396 directly in the address bar of IE 6.0 also leads me there. CChris

You have to use the search function to find them. Unfortunately I don't think that there's a reference to the message number stored. -- "Any programming problem can be solved by adding a level of indirection." --anonymous "Any performance problem can be solved by removing a level of indirection." --M. Right now, I cannot go furher than m15445.html, which is 50 posts ahead, and here was no backup yesterday. It looks like there is now a 150 or 160 post limit to what can be accessed by Euforum, older messages being available only through the search facility. Is this an expected behaviour? CChris

Rob will have to answer this one. That's just the way it works. You have to remember, the whole system "evolved" in small increments, over many years. It wasn't "intelligently designed" from scratch. The message board was added relatively recently, on top of the existing message archive. It would be possible to enlarge the number of recent messages accessible via the message board interface. I'd have to get Junko to work on that. It's her area. I'm also getting kind of low on disk space. The message board more than doubles the amount of disk space per message. Anyway, the message archive contains all messages for more than a decade. I'd like to open source all this stuff, but there are some "secret" things like password mechanisms, spam filtering algorithms etc. that it's better to hide from the world.
