3D Pong? Yes. Well, to the sophistication of say Quake 3 or any other recent 3D game.... Not in pure euphoria. I wouldn't be too worried about that though, most graphic engines are optimized to within an inch of their life. That means assembly code. If you wrote (or "borrowed") a graphics engine, wrote a library to interface to it... then I think you could. Hmmm... just in the spirit of competition... I wonder how OpenEU compares speedwise to regular Euphoria? ============================================== _______<-------------------\__ / _____<--------------------__|=== | |_ <-------------------/ \__| Patrick Barnes -----Original Message----- From: Lewis Townsend [mailto:Keroltarr at hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, 14 January 2003 10:48 To: EUforum Subject: 3D graphics / games in Euphoria Howdy folks, Lewis Townsend here. I know I haven't posted in a long time. I somehow got unsubscribed some time ago and never bothered to resubscribe. I still check out the website from time to time tho. Well down to the point: Would it be feasable to write a fast paced High detail 3D game in Euphoria? With/Without translation? Back when I was a regular on this list I would have said no to that question but Eu has advanced some since then I think. Any Oppinoins? later, Lewis Townsend Lewy T TOPICA - Start your own email discussion group. Hi Lewis, Have you tried Morfit? Do a search for Morfit on the recent used contributions. I haven't heard anything about it for awhile so I'm not sure what the status of it is. As others have mentioned, probably not in pure Eu, but there are a number of graphical options available to you, including, now, DirectX. I've been able to translate one of the examples that comes with the DirectX SDK, but since I'm not really interested in graphics, it was just a proof of concept. If you understand DirectX, it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you want to use EuCOM to interface with it. I really couldn't say what the upper limits might be, though. Matt Lewis
