Hello Mr. German! >I still being a novice but I'm afraid I've just become a Euphoria >enthusiast! I just can't stop read everything I find about it. One >of the nicest works I found was Travis' Encyclopædia Euphoria and >I'm planning to translate it to my native language (Brazilian- >Portuguese) so other country fellows that do not (or have >difficulty to) understand can use a translated material. Next step could be the >translation of libraries messages and so on... Well, welcome to the Grand Euphorium, Mr. German. I am also a die-hard Euphoria fan, and every time my C++ compiler brings down my system, I become an even *bigger* Euphoria fanatic! You of course have my permission to translate anything I've written into Portuguese. In fact, for quite a while now, Mr. Kachan has been translating some of my Euphoria web pages into Russian. To check out his Russian translations, you can visit his Russian Euphoria site, or go to my web page at http://rain.prohosting.com/pds/index_r.htm, which he has very kindly translated into Russian for me. (Be sure to switch your browser's encoding to Windows-1251 (Cyrillic), or you'll see an explosion in a speghetti factory.) However, please be aware that the Encyclopedia was simply a reformatting of the documentation written by Mr. Craig -- although I doubt he would have a problem with you translating the documentation into Portuguese, keep in mind that he is the final authority on the official documentation (for the core language, anyway). Mr. Stachon has communicated some interest into translating the installer and the Euphoria documentation into Czech as well, although he's not committed to it as of yet. I'll be really sending out translation requests for the installer once it is in final release, as some of the text might change, be reworded, etc. I believe that one of the things which would really benefit Euphoria would be translating its documentation, and the documentation for some of the major libraries (database.e, win32lib.ew, objecteu.e) into as many different languages as possible. And considering the fact that we have people on this list from all over the planet, we definitely would have the resources to pull something like this off. >I think would be suitable to have a *nihil obstat* from all >copyright holders i.e. Rob (RDS), Travis Beaty, David Cuny, et al, >to have their material, totally or partially, translated into other >language. Okay, I have no clue what "nihil obstat" means ... but you may feel free to translate the Encyclopedia. I dropped the Encyclopaedia project several months ago due to apparent dis-interest; however, I got back on my old computer, and managed to pull up the old files I used to build the help file. The zip file for all these files is 735K, so needless to say I can't post it to the list (well, I could, but I don't want the wrath of Euphorium to rain down on me). So if you would, okay this in a private post and I'll send the zip file to you privately. This file contains all the files which make up the encyclopedia, and also the start of files to document win32lib.ew. Looking over my notes, it appears that I had decided to switch to CHM format, but stopped short. I would eventually like to write a book (literally) on Euphoria, in the vein of The Complete C++ Reference, which could in a way resurrect this project. But this will be in the future, as my main project for right now is the installer. Thanks! Travis Beaty Claude, Texas.

Anyone can copy the RDS Euphoria manual (refman.doc, library.doc etc.) It says as much on the front page. Translations to other languages are much appreciated. "Nihil Obstat" (Latin for "nothing stands in the way") and Imprimatur (more Latin, for "let it be printed") are placed on religious books and articles that have been reviewed and found not to to contradict Roman Catholic doctrine. It turns out to be less than a ringing endorsement: "The NIHIL OBSTAT and IMPRIMATUR are official declarations that a book or pamphlet is free of doctrinal or moral error. No implication is contained therein that those who have granted the NIHIL OBSTAT and the IMPRIMATUR agree with the content, opinions or statements expressed." Gee, it almost reads like a EULA. I have no objections to my stuff being translated. Thanks for asking! -- David Cuny
