I think you should re-think the advisability of writing anything that runs 
in console mode, whether for DOS or Linux.  

DOS is dead, and the few people who enjoy using console programs on Linux 
probably will resent anything as 'futuristic' as a file chooser. They 
generally prefer typing -options on the command line.

Irv! How could you?!?!

Anyway, for my initial interface, I wanted something simple that anyone 
(read: "I") could use quickly and easily. The program I'm writing should 
port easily to other UIs.

So, you're sayin' I gotta do it on my own?
