This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_003D_01C175CF.26A96400 charset="iso-8859-1" Hi Everyone, I have been trying to find a method to directly download some PDF documents (lots actually) from I web site in an automated way. As part of the experiment, I tried creating a simple html page with the direct links to the documents I require, the idea being that I could just click the link to each document to download. Unfortunately, this did not work. However, pasting the URL directly into IE's address bar does work. It would seem that the "secondary" linking I tried has a problem. Does anyone know why? Here is an example link..... http://dfswebapp.tabnsw.com.au/get_dfs.asp?race=01&event=SR&type=WS I am registered to the site......a logon is required so clicking the above wont work for anyone else. I would be grateful if someone could explain how the link works when the server receives it and if there is anything I can do to automate the process. Many thanks! This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0040_01C175BF.129F5600 charset="iso-8859-1" I don't know if this will help but I think you can actually download (with GetRight) http://dfswebapp.tabnsw.com.au/get_dfs.asp ASP file which is made of VBScript code. That way you can see what is going on when you click that link, if that is what you want. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Brown To: EUforum Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2001 6:35 AM Subject: Offtopic - Web Stuff Hi Everyone, I have been trying to find a method to directly download some PDF documents (lots actually) from I web site in an automated way. At 16:35 25/11/01 +1100, you wrote: <snip> Hi Mark, A useful link is to the "graburl.exe" utility for Windows: http://www.kiraly.com/software/utilities/graburl/ You can call this from Euphoria via a system() call. However I think it will only work for URL's which are static in nature (HTML pages, gifs, exes, jpegs etc). The getright utility Tone has mentioned may be a better utility for this but you might want to experiment. I like graburl because it is simple, is free, runs consistently on a variety of Windows implementations and is callable from Euphoria. Regards, FP.

ASP, PHP & CGI should be never allowed to download for user. The scripts may contain passwords to some databases or files, or reveal some info about the server, so a good server won't you ever allow to get source of the scripts. (MS IIS had a few such security holes If you d/l the .asp, you'll get just the output of the script. Martin
