Did I miss something or is David's Cuny win32lib copyright now own by Thomas C. Janes and placed by Mr. Janes under the GNU public license. Rob would you please ask Mr. Janes to cease using the name win32api.ew for this libray or remove his Visual euphoria program langauge from the archive. PS: Anyone using David's the win32lib library will now have to include the GPL license in it. Bernie

One file in Tom Janes' Visual Euphoria program consists of an amalgamation of the files in euphoria\include plus some version of Win32Lib, plus a few changes of his own. He put a GNU-style copyright notice at the top of all files because he wants to encourage others to continue his work. He describes what he did in his readme file, and he mentions David Cuny. Perhaps he should have mentioned David Cuny in the actual source files as well. If David Cuny feels his copyright has been infringed in any way, I will gladly remove Mr. Janes contribution. > Rob would you please ask Mr. Janes to cease using > the name win32api.ew for this libray or remove his Visual euphoria > program langauge from the archive. I don't think you can copyright an 8.3 file name, especially one with an obvious name like Win32API.ew I don't think many people will confuse Tom's file with yours. > PS: Anyone using David's the win32lib library will now have to > include the GPL license in it. No they won't. What about the 99% who have never even seen Tom Janes' file? Also, Tom can only copyright *his* amalgamated file, not David's original, or the work of Derek Parnell and others. This would be like Microsoft owning all of my code because I choose to use their Windows API... Just aint so...Bernie Actually if it were a real issue Bernie you would have to stop using Win32Api because Jacques Deschenes had this name along time before you propably started your project.. "just something to chew on" How does one go about an intellectual copyright in a time and a world that we live in is so full of pirates and thieves. Mr. Janes, please update your files by: - Restoring the original Win32Lib copyright (only to Win32Lib) - Restoring the original Win32Lib license (only to Win32Lib) I appreciate it. It acknowledges the work like Derek Parnel, Matthew Lewis and others have done. I'll also note that it's been some time since I've worked on Win32Lib - Derek deserves almost all credit for keeping this project alive and current. Thanks. -- David Cuny
