Hello All, I just completed the first public beta of Nexus Radio. Nexus Radio is written completely in EU, and then translated to C. The external DLLs are not written in EU. Everyone is welcome to try it out and give their feedback. You must be running Win2000/XP. You can download it here: http://www.insight-concepts.com/nexusradio/beta/nexusradio_beta1.exe ---Chris ----If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.----

That is awesome! What are those radio stations? I believe laughter is the best medicine, so I'm listening to some comedy. :) -=ck "Programming in a state of Euphoria." http://www.cklester.com/euphoria/

Very nice interface, I'll adopt it! Gut why text is scrolling from left to right instead of right to left? regards, Jacques Deschênes

I'm running WinXP x64 (AMD64) and when I try to install Nexus Radio it gives me an error box, "must be Windows 2000 or XP". I've tried to load it in compatibility mode, but no go -- same error. I suspect your are checking for the OS somewhere and not checking what the OS is telling you it is. Since both Linux x64 and Windows x64 can run 32 bit apps, is there any reason for that? -- jon

Thanks for the Win x64 changes. Your Nexus Radio (beta) runs perfectly, sounds good, and has a ton of choices. Good job! -- jon

Chris, i noticed on thing that irked me (just a little) -- your Nexus Radio changed my file associations from the normal WinAmp to Nexus. unless i missed something somewhere in the settings that's an automatic thing, right? my next question is why change the associations if the primary function of Nexus Radio is to play internet 'stations'? otherwise, the beta hasn't hiccuped on me yet. thanks, -- jon

Hi Jon, Nexus Radio primary use is to listen and record radio stations to MP3 files, so I decided to associate certain media files with Nexus Radio. Remember this is just a beta and in the full version the user will be able to select which files he/she want to associate with Nexus Radio. Thank you for your input, ---Chris jxliv7 wrote: > > Chris, i noticed on thing that irked me (just a little) -- your Nexus Radio > changed my file associations from the normal WinAmp to Nexus. > > unless i missed something somewhere in the settings that's an automatic thing, > right? > > my next question is why change the associations if the primary function of > Nexus > Radio is to play internet 'stations'? > > otherwise, the beta hasn't hiccuped on me yet. thanks, > > > -- > jon ----If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.----

I do not see a problem with the way the text scrolls. No one else have complained about this. jacques deschênes wrote: > > > Because the way it scroll I see the end of sentence before the beginning! > > ----If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.----

i hadn't noticed it, but since it's been pointed out, the left to right scrolling is a little disconcerting. [jokes about dyslexia removed] are you going to add tooltips (mouseover hints or descriptions) for the next version? didn't know what that little red light was until i tried it. also a right-click menu on some items would be nice. i like anyway, there's not much improvement you can do, it's a very nice app. -- jon

I can't find a way to have the program access a random bank and transfer large sums of money into my account anonymously. Will that be in RC1? -=ck "Programming in a state of Euphoria." http://www.cklester.com/euphoria/

Yup tool tips will be in the final version along with a virtual tour. > i like anyway, there's not much improvement you can do, it's a very nice app. > Thanks! ----If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.----

Yes it is a minor inconvenient, I have a more serious one. On my system (windows xp sp2) nexus radio doesn't run in a session opened with a non privileged user account. (although it works when logged on as administrator). In non priviliged account it start a new install and then display error message: there was an error running nexus radio click OK to restart nexus radio. When I click OK it display another message saying: ShellExecute require a WinMain() regards, Jacques Deschenes C Bouzy wrote: > > I do not see a problem with the way the text scrolls. When you originally installed Nexus Radio, did you allow access to all users or just the admin? I do not see why it would not run under a non admin account. I will try it and see what happens. jacques deschênes wrote: > > > Yes it is a minor inconvenient, I have a more serious one. > > On my system (windows xp sp2) nexus radio doesn't run in a session opened > with a non privileged user account. I checked into the problem, and it is not unique to Nexus Radio. Some apps need certain privlages to run correctly, Adobe Photoshop for one. The installer is suppose to set the privileges to allow everyone to use it, but for some reason its not. So when you run Nexus Radio under a account with low privileges it crashes because it can't access certain registry keys. Later today I am going to test an older installer package. ----If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.---- jacques deschênes wrote: > > > Yes it is a minor inconvenient, I have a more serious one. > > On my system (windows xp sp2) nexus radio doesn't run in a session opened > with a non privileged user account. I looked over the installer docs and read a few online articles regarding this same issue. The way Nexus Radio access files it cannot work under an account that is limited. There is nothing I or the installer can do to correct this, this is a security feature set by Windows XP. What I did do is add error checking so if the user does not have the correct access rights, Nexus Radio will warn the user and then exit gracefully. Sometime next week I am going to release a second beta with bug fixes and new features a few users suggested. ----If you continue to do what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.---- > > Yes it is a minor inconvenient, I have a more serious one. > > > > On my system (windows xp sp2) nexus radio doesn't run in a session opened > > with a non privileged user account. Great program. I would suggest putting a small mute button underneath the volume control. When you press it the first time, it (of course) mutes the sound. The next time you press it, it restores the volume to what it was before you pressed it the first time. Brent
