Hi there Rob, QUOTE: Hi Rob, How about 10 dollars off if it's actually *cash* (ie credit card or other, but *NOT* micro economy dollars for people who have them)? In other words, a cash payment (minus $10) instead of using the micro dollars for an upgrade to v2.5 ? If the micro dollars are used there's no income for RDS but if cash there's still an income right? How's that sound? Possibly just for the holidays or possibly anytime? :UNQUOTE Take care, Al And, good luck with your Euphoria programming! My bumper sticker: "I brake for LED's"

Yes, that might be better financially for me, but I think what I'll do is issue you a special coupon for $10 plus any MicroEconomy dollars. So if you have $6.00 in the MicroEconomy system, you could get a coupon for $16.00 off, i.e. you'd pay only $23.00, or if it's a Binder upgrade, normally $24, you'd pay $8.00. If you only have enough MicroEconomy to bring the price down to say $5.00, I would just send it to you. No need to use DigiBuy. DigiBuy takes a $3 cut on all transactions. You could "owe" me the balance in future MicroEconomy. With just 11 hours to go until I upload the new LW game with video capture mode, I suggest that everyone review lw.doc and spend the rest of the day practicing on the existing LW. You might need to take some time off work or school. I don't know if the contest will be over in an hour, or a year. Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com

Hi Rob. As you sure know, I was out of EUforum for a while. Now, I got a broadband connection, and I read the messages from the page instead of using POP3. Now, I see that a LW contest seems to be on the air. Can you tell me what is it? Regards.

There are some minor issues with doing it for all products. I'm trying to make the contest attractive to existing Euphoria people, and to new people. So you don't have to program anything to win, and you won't even have to install Euphoria to win. Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com

That's good to hear. I'm sure you are much happier using broadband. > Now, I see that a LW contest seems to be on the air. Can you tell me > what is it? There's a write-up on the News page: http://www.rapideuphoria.com/news.htm In about 8 1/2 hours, the contest will begin. You will download a Recent User Contribution by RDS containing a new version of Language War that records a movie of your game. If you kill all 50 C/ANSI C/C++ ships, send your .vid file to me. (I know some people will be asleep at that time, but this thing might go on for weeks or months. I have no idea.) Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com

I mean if its money, you could just offer a flat $10 coupon good for any one of the products. But I guess it should not matter, since I wont be participating in the contest. Regards, Vincent

Most new people will be more interested in the Binder than in the Translator or Source. Also, whenever you make up a game or contest, you have to think of all the ways that someone might cheat, or otherwise subvert the purpose of the contest. Programmers, by their nature, will always search for loop-holes, special cases, and "bugs" in any system. I'm concerned that there might be one "hot-shot" LW player out there who will quickly win 3 games and submit them from 3 different e-mail addresses, thereby grabbing three coupons for himself to use on any product, and killing the fun of other people. If only the Binder is up for grabs, he will have nothing to gain by submitting a second time. If he wants to transfer his coupon to someone else, that's ok with me, but I will set it up so a given coupon can only be used once. Of course illegal copying of software is always a problem. > But I guess it should not matter, > since I wont be participating in the contest. You already have the Binder, and you've never won LW at even the novice level, so I guess you don't have much incentive. Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com

I must of spent several months playing with the translator before ever learning the language in any significant detail! In the beginning, I had little or no interest in Euphoria, I just wanted to translate stuff. It's safe to say that I've done my fair share of regression testing for it. :P The translator really facisinated me because: a) It can speed up my programs upto 5 times. :D b) I can tweak compiler options for slightly better performance. :D c) I can make DLLs or SOs. :) I hope the translator works with the new Borland C++Builder 2006 compiler. If it doesn't, perhaps you could add support for it in your Borland static library used by the translator? > Also, whenever you make up a game or contest, you have to think of all > the ways that someone might cheat, or otherwise subvert the > purpose of the contest. Oh yea, I didn't think of that; though I bet the only "hot-shot" at LW is yourself. > You already have the Binder, and you've never won LW at even > the novice level, so I guess you don't have much incentive. Yep, though I hardly use it, as I'm sure you've guessed by now. :P I might try your bound multi-tasking LW to see if I can crash it. With this said, you must be getting very close to releasing a fast tasking Euphoria 2.5? Regards, Vincent

I asked for the translator for Christmas last year and would much rather be able to speed my programs up and make DLLs than just make bound exes.
