1. Old forum messages available?

I’m one of those programmers that search the old forum to answer my questions before I post my ignorance in front of the entire community. I have a vague memory that the old forums were available to download from the original rapideuphoria site along with the search utility. I’d love to keep this on my local hard drive for safekeeping. Is my memory going completely or is this still available? Thanks in advance!

Just so everyone knows, all messages (old and new) are available here, however it's hard to find what your looking for w/o the search interface but once the search interface comes online, then you will instantly have access to all the old messages here as well.
btw... the search interface is not the problem with the new EuForum, I think it is a very weird, hard to find internal bug.

No. The new forum will eventually have a search capability, and should be able to search all the previous messages. I don't want to invest any more time in the old system.

It doesn't exist. The new EUforum created by Jeremy started shortly after May 2008. I don't have any data after that.

Hmmm... the file permissions on the earlier months (except for June 1996) did not have readability for "the world". It's fixed now, and also you can search from 1996 June to 2008 May.

Rather than reinvent the wheel, has anybody already written a searcher similar to esearch.exu or something similar based on edb? I can’t expect rob to give away the store by providing his source code. Thanks in advance!

The source for esearch.exu has always been completely open source and free. See:

Perhaps someone should try to modify esearch to extract forum messages from the MySQL database created by Jeremy, rather than from the monthly files I was maintaining. I don't think I'll have time for that project.
