True - but I have had a bound program that runs flawlessly day after 
day suddenly start issuing page faults every time I try to run it. 
The only thing that works is to shut down the computer, and 
restart. The program will then run just fine, perhaps for months.

Sounds like hardware to me, but it could be an OS problem, I suppose, 
such as Windows losing track of how much memory it actually has, 
or which programs own which memory addresses.....
