Video, AVIs and MPEG

Would anyone have suggestions for running or playing video from within Windows ? I have noticed not much had been done in this area (looking at the archives), yet I thought Euphoria could be great for scripting/controlling multimedia - it can easily access the low level, relatively fast, and a small simple language. It seems a very good fit for Multimedia. Cheers, Peter
