Ouch.

The smart users will still be able to install the VM from Sun or IBM tho,
so Java isn't quite dead yet.

It is already happening. No argument there.

If you mean to imply that this will kill off all other OSes, I'd imagine
it would have the very opposite effect. (Hey, now I can lease Quake 5 off of
the website and it will automaticly run my Linux comp since I have a
compatible viewer installed.)

Of course, Java is a language that by its very nature supports such internet
leasing easily...

Funny, I had the exact opposite experience. Also, XP is far too invasive
(in terms of privacy) for me to choose to buy it, ever.
