scientific notation

I am working on a windows program that displays results of a calculation in a label an some of the results are to large or to small to display the entire string in the label. Can anyone help me with a routine that will convert the results into scientific notation before diplaying them (ie. 0.00000000000001 = 1.0 x 10<sup>-14</sup>. Thank you Allen
