Topica is actually a surprisingly secure site..
I've noticed similar things...
Like subcriber address hiding..
Even in the Reply To: box, if you point to the addy, it is truncated. 
The only way to get the actual addy is to be a subscriber, and send a 
reply to that person..THEN, the user can see the whole addy in the 
Recipient Space.

Don't know why they would bother to truncate those Email commands 
though. Only subscribers can use them. and the info can be found on 
their site...
