Caveat:

I have Knoppix. It will not install correctly on any of the 3 pc's I have 
tried. It seems to choose an invalid video setting for each of the (totally 
different) machines.

However, Mandrake 9.1 (CheapBytes.com, $6.99) loads and runs on all 3, 
and only the oldest required any manual settings at all.
