It's more of a reason than an excuse, especially if the child is only ten
and is saying things like "your momma was on her knees sucking my
<censored>" (which recently happened). THAT child IS the product of a
household... an environment. That poor child has been "raised that way," and
cannot, without great exercise of will and an increase in knowledge, break
from that pattern.

You can't say in one breath that you dismiss "raised that way," then in the
next say it's "all about programming;" they're practically the same thing!

If evil people* control AI, we're all doomed, because it will all be about
survival. If good/loving/considerate people control AI, we're all in for
some good times, because it will all be about philanthropy.

And remember, we won't achieve this kind of development in our lifetime
anyway... ;)

Although, with those new nanotube thingies, there's much promise in storage
technology and, therefore, information management systems (like, say, a
BRAIN...). :)

* Evil people, in this use, are those who only care about themselves or,
conversely, don't care about anybody else.
