This error is not your fault. An I/O error would only be caused by
something
such as a corrupted filesystem or a bad harddisk. My guess ... the file
was probably put in a bad block on the disk, hence gcc can't read it.
(Note that if you can read that file fine via a text editor, you can try
copying that file and then getting gcc to use the copy.)
