serial port routines ? ?

I don't find any routines in the archives for dealing with the serial
ports.  The only thing close appears to merely poll the uart buffer.  What
I'm looking for is one that does the interrupt and buffer thing.  I don't
think I'm clever enough to translate the one I have for pascal into E,
without it becoming a career.
Have I missed something?
