for some people, subscribing to a newsgroup costs money each time a mail
message comes through. this can be even more costly in a group like this,
when people are posting code snippets.

we don't demand that people have a good reason to sign up for this group
in the first place; it seems a bit petulant to demand that they give a
reason to unsubscribe, to say the least...

to quote from the subscription confirmation:

   you may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF EUPHORIA"
   command to LISTSERV at MIAMIU.ACS.MUOHIO.EDU (or LISTSERV at MIAMIU.BITNET).
