I think it is fundamentally inconsistent with an Open Source project to use or
require a tool which is not free when a perfectly good one is available and,
based on all accounts, is actually superior in performance (if not usability)
than the pay version.

I have no sympathy for a user having to download a new piece of free software
which enhances the usability of his system, even if he does already have a for
pay piece of software that he considers "good enough".

I vote for 7-zip and let the bytes fall where they may.  Friendlier sorts can
vote for an explanatory message indicating the flaws associated with commonly
available tools other than the one in use.
