Not too sure about that, Ben. Maybe that's the case in North America and
Europe, but in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, etc.) and
also in Spain, it seems that everybody is at least experimenting with Linux,
not just in their own home systems (partitioned disks, mostly) but also in
all kind of commercial enterprises.

Newsstands and libraries are carrying Linux distributions, software,
articles, how-tos, and so on. A lot of business people are going slowly
crazy about StarOffice. If this goes on, nobody will remember Win vs Linux,
it'll just be Gnome vs KDE. Two monthly magazines+cdrom dedicated solely to
Linux programming are selling quite well at nearly $10 each (1 peso = 1 US
dollar), and the best and 'Users', the most popular general computer
magazine in Argentina, is now nearly half Linux.

Seen the Corel distribution? It's not exactly the best or most complete, but
think of it in terms of a common, non-expert user, who really wants/needs a
better Win95+Office without having to pirate or pay hundreds of dollars or
upgrade to 128 MB and 20 MB HDs just because.

Moreover, a lot of kids who never knew the joys of the command line and the
'manual' writing of code are discovering that Linux is fun!

So, give it five years more.
