A while back I would have said GREP, but Dave Cuny did pattern.e and that's been helpful more than once. His Ox tool I'm still looking at but haven't done anything with. I suppose, given how little time I spend on PCs these days and how much more I spend on Macintoshes, it would be great to have a Macintosh version, if not for Systems 7 through 9, then at least for Mac OS X. It can be done: there's Perl and there's MacPerl; why not Euphoria and MacEuphoria? That brings me around to Perl. It has a documentation standard. I can run Shuck (a Macintosh program) and read all the POD documentation plus whatever POD has been embedded in whatever .pl and .pm files I might download. I can output to HTML with the various POD2whatever translators. There is no, so far as I know, documentation standard for Euphoria. For me that's an issue. And then there's CPAN-shell... Bruce --
