A firewall 'listens' to the ports on a computer, restricting data flow through some of the ports, and totally blocking flow through others (ignoring data requests). In this way it keeps unauthorized users from accessing the machine, because the computer ignores their requests for data from certain ports, and makes them enter a username/password to get data from other ports. Unfortunately, I have no network programming experience whatsoever...you might try looking at code from different linux distributions that act as firewalls, and if you're using Windoze try to find Win equivalents for this code. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
