Naw, it took me forever before I actually started making a program
halfways-well. I've been working on Euphoria since the tail end of
the 1.* series (Late '97?), I tried making a DOS-based databasing
program to organize all the damn M:TG sets coming out at the time,
based on guru but that fell through when I saw Magic Suitcase...
Now i'm up to my elbows in making a program for Windows that
automates making a certain type of file for a game :) Took me, what,
3 years before I started making a big program?

Took me a couple weeks to get puts() working for myself, but then
thats about all I did...

Not necessarily. I've got this program i'm workin on that flakes out
once in awhile in the code, but when it does, its not that hard to
track down, despite the 2,000+ lines of code...

Yes. Yes....

If you can lookup the manual and get things working correctly after
you read it, and you can ask for help, I don't think this is it...

Nope. You're on your own with Euphoria, however there are plenty
of libraries available to help you on your journey. Particularly I'm
keeping an eye on all the 3d stuff like Morfit, and the DX and OGL
wrappers people are working on :)

If I remember right thats painfully out of date, but it still teaches
some basic concepts. Never helped me tho :)

Try, RTFM, plug away, and don't be afraid to ask questions. (I don't
do the RTFM part, but don't take my example :))
