For the map generation, why don't you use tile-based drawing ? It saves a
lot of memory. Tile based is a way of building maps that have a source
file with the tiles (bitmaps) and one that is a map file, with indexes of
the tiles, so you can have an enormous map with less than 10 Kb of memory
HD waste. If you want, I can mail you some example.
