Martin, You don't read any better now than you did before. This list is no longer an official Euphoria list. Rob has repeatedly requested that people unsubscribe from this list and subscribe to the Topica list. Our agreement was and is that I would not post on "the" Euphoria list. There can only be one list that is "the" list. Rob has clearly registered his intent that the Topica list be "the" Euphoria list. Even though I was on the Topica list before he took it over, I have acceded to his declaration that it is "the" list. He can't have it both ways. I am willing to maintain our bargain by not posting to whatever list that he declares the official Euphoria list. And, by the way, that software was in no way free. It was earned by meeting our bargain struck in the open on the list. I did not receive a refund of the money that I had already paid for Euphoria as he offered. I countered that offer with the one that was finally agreed to. I have maintained the agreed upon silence on the list. He has now moved the list. As a matter of fact, he never owned this list we are posting on. It was provided by a friend of his. If the individual that actually owns this list chooses to shut it down, I will be disappointed. Third, I am not and will not be a member of any group that is under the control of Mr. Craig until he assumes a sense of responsibility towards his customers. He is showing some faint signs of doing so. His recent reply to Al Getz on the Topica list was the first time that I am aware of that he has even faintly committed to any even slightly specific future change to the language. Until now, the only thing that we had was a vague commitment that he would do "something" about namespaces. You may also note that a few of the new "dogs" on the Euphoria list such as Derek Parnell and Al Getz are getting a bit restive and questioning about where the language is headed. Derek got a little miffed a while back with one of Mr. Craig's short, truculent answers, and here is a quote from Mr. Getz that says it about as well as I could hope to: "Since this kind of change to Euphoria would mean drastic code style changes (presumably cleaner) in ALL programs written in Euphoria, (not just the Winlib) when will this kind of thing take place and what exactly can we expect to be changed? Its kind of silly to do much serious or even semi serious coding untill we get some sort of commitment on RDS's part, right? So is there any forsight for us here Rob? Any recommendations for code now in view of any comming changes? Thanks, Al" Since these boys haven't been much exposed to my "corrosive" influence, I wander where they got such ideas. Since both of them seem to be experienced, production programmers, maybe they are used to a different level of support and response from a commercial product. Maybe they understand that lack of clear input about the direction of the language makes it non-viable for large efforts, especially commercial ones. I know that you are a talented hobbyist, but I have seen nothing that indicates to me that you have much understanding of or care for the world of commercial quality software. That is not necessarily a defect in your personality, but it does mean that you are unlikely to easily understand my viewpoint. Last, you are welcome to question me on any technical point, but I will not take lightly further posting that questions my integrity. Whatever our disagreements, such items are personal and should be taken off this or any other list. On the other hand, I am also open to any such questions that you or anyone else may have if they come by private email. I think that I have made myself clear.
