In this case, I think you might want to consider using a different control.
Has the List view been wrapped? If I remember correctly, it allows the
creation of a list with multiple columns.

If you are using Outlook, go to Tools | Options | Read | Fonts | Fixed Width
Fonts. "Courier" and "Courier New" is about the only one that's reliably on
people's machines.
