In the next 3 to 4 weeks, there will probably be some kind of "pre-alpha" release of multitasking in the (C-backend) interpreter, and the Translator. It's unlikely I'll have built-in non-blocking support that you've asked for, but you'll be able to experiment again with the code provided by Daniel Kluss, this time with a fast interpreter and Translator. I don't want to speculate on when a full alpha release will happen. There are several other things I'd like to include in a 3.0 alpha release besides multitasking.
