At least you two are proving that it doesn't require my presence to have a little minor irritability in this group. The only thing wrong with this conversation is that any "positive comment" about any language other than Euphoria seems to draw negative comments on the list. The only reason that this defensiveness seems necessary is that our esteemed author seems determined not provide the types of facilities that most of these other budding languages seem to think necessary. It is a choice. Whether it is a good choice remains to be seen. I vote for an IDE and standard libs at least approved, if not maintained by the author. I would also vote for open source and cooperative development, but that seems to be another "foreign" concept, even with a Linux version at hand. One man bands seem to have died out in the early part of this century because better music could be made by groups cooperating together. In the long run, this language will not survive unless it is carried forward by a wider group and with more openness than now exists. The idea of some ill event happening to Mr. Craig at this moment hardly can be born. In addition, too much time is wasted trying to guess what was "really" intended in some features of the language...since the documentation is anything but definitive. On the other hand, even with the loss of Mr. Dumer, some other contributors have made some major advances in facilities for the language to use. I hope that continues and provides some incentive to our authors to take the future of this language more seriously. Everett L.(Rett) Williams rett at gvtc.com
