Hi The 2GB limit isn't a limit of win98, its a limit of FAT32. In order to get round this LBA (logical block addressing) was developed, which effectively maps some blocks onto other blocks of the hard drive. I could look up the maths, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. Its of little practical use anyway. Ok, there's several ways of playing this. Probably your first port of call is the manufacturers website, and look up the drive model - windows may report it (R click My computer / properties / hardware / look up the hard drive (or something like that) ), or you may have to open the case and get the drive manufacturer / serial number from the drive case. You may need to enable LBA in the cmos setup. How to do this will vary according to the computer manufacturer - again HP's website would be a good place to satrt. most of the time its F10/F12/ or Del while booting. If you can enable LBA (or sometimes auto), then wiping the hard drive, and re installing win98, the installation should ask if you want to use all available space(LBA), answer yes (obviously). Thats it sorted. You may have to use the disk manufacturers driver - in which case follow the instructions. Finally, there are 3rd party disk accessing programs - eg ontrack, which will place a little program in the boot sector of the drive to enable access to the whole drive - you may have to pay some pennies for this. I've never had to yet, but I suppose there's always a first time. Incidentally, a few months ago I came across the 137GB limit when installing a new 200GB hard drive, that involved formatting with the manufacturers program, and installing a driver in win xp. I also tried to find the manufacturer for a 40MB hard drive (VV old) - can't remember the name, but they'd disappeared. Have fun Chris
