Either:
a) You are 'fdisking' it wrong
b) Your bios has issues
When you fdisk, make sure large drive support is enabled

Also: stick with 98
XP system req sez minimum 256 mb ram, thats wrong. it should be 512 mb
minimum, 1024 recommended.

Stick with 98- better than the so-called better stuff :)
