Das Svendanya
Thomas,
What's 'Das Svendanya'?
If you think it's a Russian greeting, then your rendition is full of
careless mistakes, on par with your other contributions.
Now, I have not uttered a Russian word since the bastards chased me in
their tanks through the streets of Prague in summer of '68, but I am
pretty sure it's more likely 'Do Svidanya', phonetically something
like 'doh sve-dar-nya'. Literally, it means 'until we see each other
again', a polite Russian way of saying 'see you'.
Please, correct me, if I am wrong. Otherwise feel discouraged.
