I think I may be able to help you, but if you're talking about
the "Registry Database" in Windoz, it can be a dangerous (fatal,
may not be able to reboot machine) operation, so I'd like a
little more information -

Do you mean the Windows Registry?
If so, which version of Windows?
Do you just want to make the change on your own machine, or are
you talking about writing a program to change it?
Do you need to make just one change, for one specific file type,
or need to know how to make the change for any file type? If it's
one specific change - give me the details, and I'll supply you
with detailed instructions. On the other hand, if you need the
general procedure for writing the code to do it, I'll make some
general suggestions.
