I *don't* want the list to split.

Mark Brown made the excellent point that people will not be sure which list to
post to so run the risk of posting to the wrong one or "playing it safe" and
posting to most if not all of the lists.  This sort of cure is worse than the
disease.

I *do* think that having a convention of including one of:

   [GEN]
   [DOS]
   [WIN]
   [LNX]

in the subject line of each and every post and followup is an *excellent*
idea.  This not only allows people to filter out things they are not
interested in but will make the list archives much easier to search.

Also bear in mind that the email list is provided as a generous favour by one
of Rob's associates.  This is why it isn't as straightforward as you might
think for Rob to make changes to the list.

I vote we stick with what we've got and start to pay more attention to what we
put in the subject line of our posts.
