Sure: if you are dual booting win and linux, just type linux init S at the prompt. (This is using lilo, I think the same thing works if you are booting via loadlin) What this does is put the computer into supervisory mode, (you'll need to give the root password) and presents a text-mode prompt. From there, you can edit or replace the files you messed up. Regards, Irv
