Ok, what has been said is that "Business Applications" depend on
RDBMS, which is absolutely not true. One has to remember that
still more than 70% of the MAJOR processing of business data
is done on a MainFrame, which generally mean Cobol and ISAM files.

In those environments, and in dealing with literally tens of thousands,
if not millions of transactions and records, RDBMS has proved way to
slow. The environment winds up being some sort mix of batch, ISAM file
feeding into a RDBMS, as the end process.

Reason I joined/bought RE was to attempt to take a crack at replacing
The Appgen software and environment I so dearly love. Now that the
Appgen "Intellectual Property" has been sold, and the new company,
ApTus has sent out the VAR agreements, I am more now so
committed to doing so. For the record, the NEW VAR agreements have
what I call the "MicroSoft" Warranty - if it is broke, it isn't
our fault - along with such paragraphs as "if it is broke, you
have to make it good to the customer", and "YOu indemnify the
Company (ApTus) from getting sued and take full responsibility
for failure of the software to perform, if a such a suit is
ever brought forth".

I am off to teach a class, so I will probably explain
upon the "AppGen" environment more in detail, latter on.
