If you run out of ram memory and run out of swap space on the drive, or run
out of "resources", the OS will crash, and scandisk or chkdisk will delete the
unclosed files from before the crash. Of course, it's possible if you are online
without a firewall, or running javascript in a browser, you could be getting
attacked from the internet.
Try running RSRCMTR.EXE when you boot, and leave it running, and see
what it shows you. That's the easiest to use. Or get Taskinfo.
