Full screen in Ed

I went to full screen in Ed, hoping to extend the length of the line that is displayed. All that happened was that the letters were stretched horizontally. To add insult to injury, I can not find any way to get back to the smaller window. What is the secret? I am using Windows 98, and invoking ed via Start/Run. Allen
