Ralf,

I hate to say it but it looks like you are stuck with the Doomsday
Countdown of your pre-release Win-dos 98.  I had the same thing, and
decided to dump it all out because it just got flakier and flakier (even
flakier than usual!).  To do that I had to just rename the WINDOWS folder
to something else then installed 95 over the top of it, ignoring all of the
warnings that came up.  That install still works OK for me even now.
Anybody else know anything about how this can be deflected, I am curious to
know also.

By the way, the Chinese government just released yesterday a new OS to
counterattack Windows 95/98/NT; it is called 'HOPEN 32', and is a OPEN and
free system (as far as I can tell).  As I find out more I will post it on
the message board here.
