Thank you Robert Craig, Bernie Ryan, and Colin Taylor!!! Yes the size comes to just under 200kb worth of space when it is all loaded in, but I put that pile into the RamDrive (which is detailed elsewhere in the mailroom archives somewhere there) and only call them in one at a time as the characters are needed. This works OK, but Colin has really saved my bacon with the patch he so kindly posted. I didn't expect to get that good of a response at all! That will really help me out at this stage. I will rewrite all of the byte-sized material into bit-raster sequences in the not too distant future, and this will certainly get rid of most of my problems... it only needs to be loaded in once. As to answering questions about the OCR particulars, I am only too happy to oblige and will start that in a posting tomorrow morning. It is not really as difficult as it all seems (at least it isn't impossible to understand how to do it for such a huge project). Tomorrow. Incidently, you can go to my crudely done webpage about WHY I am doing all of this: if you want to learn a bit more. Secret Hint...I intend to do the Buddhist Canon afterwards, its even more huge by maybe three times! Again THANKS! Norm
