I also have a P4 1.8GHz with nVIDIA video card.

Yes, your SVGA demo runs much faster with ex.exe built with
OW 1.4 than with 10.6. And with 10.6 I had to add: use_vesa(1), 
and it still hung up a couple of times.

However, when I tried VGA (mode 18) the speed was the same.

This is useful information.
Maybe you'll eventually convince me to switch.
For now, translator users can use OW1.4 to get much faster 
SVGA graphics than with the interpreter. Their programs 
might run correctly on more graphics cards too.
