Chris:

   I will try a generic install of SuSE on one of my other systems.
   I have version of SuSE which I once had installed but I had
   problems with it. I think that YAST may have something to
   do with how X-Windows setup is set up.
   I found that RedHat is very stable as you will notice that
   is what RDS uses.
   Igor said xmotor worked on Linux Mandrake 10.0 ok
