I originally tried it at work on Windows XP Pro, I just now tried it at home on my laptop with Windows XP Home. SP2 both of them. I see the difference between my test and your test now -- I was using exwc.exe. This is what I usually use for command line programs. I don't usually use ex.exe (except for DOS programs) or exw.exe (except for Windows GUI programs). Still, it is unexpected behavior. exw.exe opens a new window and closes it as soon as I hit ctrl-c. ex.exe exits immediately on hitting ctrl-c (but uses the same window). -- "Any programming problem can be solved by adding a level of indirection." --anonymous "Any performance problem can be solved by removing a level of indirection." --M.
