Seeing that libtiff.so.3 wasn't included in debian, I googled a bit and found the following: http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2004/07/msg00065.html "Version 3.6.1 is the last version of libtiff that will be released as libtiff.so.3. (To be complete: programs that only use the "TIFF" type, and not the "TIFFRGBAImage" type, will most likely continue to work properly with either version of the library. There are a few other minor changes, but they may or may not impact the public ABI.)" That is, you could try the following: 1. symlinking libtiff.so.4 to libtiff.so.3 (ln -s /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.3) 2. get a copy of libtiff3g from ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/tiff/ 3. download the package files of 3.6.1-5 from http://snapshot.debian.net/libtiff4 and build the package manually.
