Fast Print
Dear Eu users:
I have posted to contrib page my recent n-font.zip
( http://www.rapideuphoria.com/n-font.zip ).
This zip contains my routines for very fast printing
of text in mode 18 with any national bitmapped font
(20-30x faster than putsxy() on PII, as Rob got),
and modified putsxy() which can now load any
external bitmapped national font for very nice
printing on Dos-32 platform.
The method, which I use for the fast printing,
allows not only 18 mode, but (slightly modified)
19 mode and 257. 19 mode works very well.
A 257 is highest for my machine and, it seems,
my videocard can not do the direct mapping of
videomemory bank 2,3 and 4 addresses onto high
addresses of RAM, so, it seems now, I can not
program with direct mapping on Dos-32 with
my Oak 1M just now.
I'll try to work around this seemed problem later
on, after finishing of my Polyglot project.
But if anyone of you wants try the simple idea of fast
printing in 19 or 257 mode with 256 colors and with
per pixel positioning just now, let me know please
via this list or privately, and I'll post this
non complete work as new version of n-font.zip
to contrib page day or two later.
