Just wanted to thank Derek and Irv for their response to my question on setting environment variables in Windows XP. Irv reference was very good. I was actually trying to figure out how Rob's install program worked on Windows XP when he was using the autoexec.bat file to set the path and Euphoria environment variables. I couldn't find that file anywhere.... It turns out that autoexec.bat (as well as config.sys, msdos.sys, and io.sys) are actually hidden operating system files in the XP root directory. The success of Rob's install program indicates that they are used by the Windows XP command processor, no matter what the Microsoft documentation says! I wonder if Rob knew something, or just got lucky here? There are advantages to using the XP properties approach to setting environment variables in that you do not have to reset the computer to have the changes take effect. Using autoexec.bat (and presumably autoexec.nt) requires resetting the computer. Thanks again Derek and Irv, for the help.
