Irv, seems like you are suggesting that in order for a language to be "in the running" requires that it have many books published about it and many thousands of users, and some significant projects by high-quality named corporations. I'm guessing Python didn't have all those starting out in 1990, and look where it is today. Sure, EUPHORIA was released in 1993, but it doesn't have the "backing" that Python has. Regardless, EUPHORIA is one of the best work horses out there.
