My first language and one that I particularly hate. ;) There'll always be a need for people to support legacy applications, but job postings you see now talk about xml, php, Java, ASP, and VB. As an example, see the survey here: http://www.computerworld.com/cwi/story/0,1199,NAV47_STO54574,00.html For example: 10% of the companies surveyed planned to hire COBOL programmers in 2002, while 36% planned to hire Java programmers. I've seen a good bit of discussion lately that indicates that Java is losing its appeal, as well. Who knows whats next? Regards, Irv
